How PetComply handles personal data

PetComply processes account, pet, trip, and security data so it can provide travel-readiness checks, saved pets, saved history, and account security features. This page explains, in plain language, what data is used and why.

Who operates PetComply

PetComply is the data controller for the information described here.

Our formal business and contact details may be updated from time to time as the service develops.

Data we collect

We collect only the data needed to operate the service you use.

  • Account email address and optional display name
  • Pet profile data such as pet name, species, breed, color, age, birth date, and microchip number
  • Pet document metadata entered by you, such as document type, issue date, expiry date, and treatment date
  • Travel readiness inputs such as origin, destination, travel date, owner-declaration context, and document-availability answers
  • Saved travel readiness check history and result messages
  • Security, audit, and abuse-prevention records such as login attempts, email verification events, and password reset events

How we use your data

We use personal data to create and secure accounts, evaluate supported pet travel routes, preserve your saved pets and saved checks, and operate basic security controls.

We also retain limited operational and audit information where needed to prevent abuse, investigate issues, and maintain the service.

  • Account management and sign-in security
  • Travel-readiness evaluation and saved history
  • Password reset and email verification delivery
  • Security monitoring, abuse prevention, and service troubleshooting

Legal basis

The main legal basis for account and travel-readiness features is performance of a contract or steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.

Security logging, fraud prevention, and service protection are generally processed on legitimate interests.

If you later add optional analytics or marketing tools, use consent before enabling them.

How long we keep data

Account data is kept while your account remains active.

Saved pets, pet documents, and saved check history remain until you delete them or your account is deleted.

Security and audit logs are kept for a limited period consistent with operational, security, and legal needs.

Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, export, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to complain to your supervisory authority.

  • Access and export your account data
  • Correct inaccurate profile information
  • Delete your account and saved data
  • Ask questions or make a complaint through the privacy contact channel

Processors and service providers

PetComply currently uses Brevo for transactional email such as email verification and password reset delivery.

Hosting, infrastructure, and database providers may also process data on our behalf where needed to operate the service.

International transfers

If a service provider stores or accesses data outside the EU or EEA, PetComply will rely on an appropriate transfer mechanism where required.
